Slight wage raise for manual workers in Belize

Minister of Labour Godwin Hulse has raised the minimum wage for all classes of manual workers from $3.10 per hour to $3.30 cents per hour in most cases. The raise will immediately apply to domestic workers, unskilled workers in the citrus industry employed in picking fruit, transporting and cleaning, and for shop assistants.

The 6.4% pay increase is seen as quite symbolic, but it will put $8.00 a week more in the pockets of those workers who need it most.
