Belize hosts business meeting of cruise line executives and industry stakeholders

The FCCA Platinum Associate Membership Advisory Council (PAMAC) Platinum Event took place in Belize from June 19-21, where over 20 senior-level cruise executives met with Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Platinum Members. The event included numerous meetings to develop business relationships; promotion of members’ products and destinations; discussion of industry trends and new ideas, etc.

One of the most important proceedings was the PAMAC meeting, where the latest developments and issues in the cruise industry were discussed by an expert panel in order to stay informed on all of the most recent trends and how to best actualize the knowledge gained. There were also one-on-one meetings with cruise executives selected by the members, which let them promote their products. The meetings also offered the executives’ insight and any necessary input to make a viable business model that coincides with the cruise industry’s standards and requirements.

BI-Annual Meeting held by Belize Tourism Industry Association

Last week, the 28th Bi-Annual General Meeting was held by the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA). During the meeting, Estela Requena from the BTIA secretariat gave a mid-year review on the status of the service industry, which has grown by 5.3% in the first quarter of the year. Among the key issues she talked about was the launch of Destination Belize 2013.

After the opening ceremony, the members of the Belize Tourism Industry Association discussed internal issues on a closed door meeting. Then, three seminars were held. The first one, facilitated by representatives of the Belize Tourism Board, was on “Standardization and Classification Process”. The second seminar on “Using Technology to effectively Market your Business” was held by Total Business Solutions. In the third seminar, the Development Finance Corporation made a presentation on “Financing for the Tourism Sector”.

Belize hosting Mexican Trade Mission

A delegation of Mexican businessmen is visiting Belize on June 5 and 6, with a mission to promote trade and to identify potential buyers and suppliers of various products (including spirits, canned products, chemicals for food conservation, agricultural products and cleaning products, and many others) and services (warehousing, logistics, distribution, direct sales and marketing of products, corporate networking solutions for voice, video and data, construction, engineering, consulting services, etc). The trade mission is organized by the Trade and Investment Mexican Agency (ProMéxico) in collaboration with the embassy of Mexico in Belize.

The Mexican delegation will meet with their Belizean counterparts, government officials and representatives of various organizations at the embassy in Belmopan on Wednesday June 5 and at the Institute of Mexico in Belize City on Thursday June 6.
